Seeing LaKeith Stanfield on screen is a unique gift to all of us. Movies are meant to transport you to an alternate reality, and that is especially true when watching LaKeith Stanfield movies. Whether he is a troubled teenager, an FBI agent, or Snoop Dogg, LaKeith Stanfield dominates any character he plays. With an Oscar nomination under his belt and an album on the way, this actor is forging his own path in Hollywood. LaKeith Stanfield lays low when he’s not on the big screen, but that won’t stop us from figuring out where this talented actor came from.
Who is LaKeith Stanfield’s girlfriend?
While LaKeith Stanfield lives a very private life, we do know that he has been with his girlfriend Xosha Roquemore since 2015 and they are still going strong. LaKeith Stanfield’s girlfriend has a strong career of her own, acting in Cherish the Day, First Wives Club (2020), and The Mindy Project.

In 2017, the pair welcomed a baby girl. They are so private with their life that they have yet to release the name of their daughter, and we respect their privacy.
We are sure that Xosha Roquemore contributes to LaKeith Stanfield’s overwhelming success in Hollywood, but there is so much more to this artist and actor than who he is dating.
LaKeith Stanfield had a long journey to get to Hollywood
Born in San Bernardino, California, in 1991, LaKeith Stanfield came from a working-class family and always found his escape from real life by watching movies (can anyone relate?!). He started exploring acting and other creative outlets at age 14 and he decided to become an actor after joining the drama club in school. This led him to a modeling and acting agency in Los Angeles where LaKeith Stanfield began auditioning for commercials.
When LaKeith Stanfield couldn’t land any acting jobs, he began working at a marijuana farm in California, which gave him a deep-found appreciation for nature. Even though LaKeith Stanfield couldn’t book any jobs and had to disconnect for a while, he used this rejection as fuel to push forward.
“I’d failed at auditions for a while. I wasn’t able to book anything, and so I felt like I’d failed. But it was more like losing the battle and not the war. I felt at some point I’d be able to come back and do something. Every failure I’ve had feels like my own. Like I got in my own way,” he said to Hero Magazine. “Maybe you make a mistake or misstep, but don’t beat yourself up over it. You’ve just got to continue, keep pushing and look at it as an opportunity to learn rather than an opportunity to burn.”
This fire lit under LaKeith Stanfield led to some incredible Hollywood movies and iconic roles that the actor is now revered for.

LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Short Term 12 (2013)
LaKeith Stanfield landed his first-ever role in Short Term 12 back in 2013, playing a troubled teenager named Marcus. This Destin Daniel Cretton film was adapted from his short film and was absolutely stacked with talent, starring celebs like Brie Larson, Rami Malek, and Stephanie Beatriz, and of course LaKeith Stanfield. Although the film was overflowing with talent, LaKeith Stanfield took over in almost every scene.
Many people recognize this scene in particular when thinking about the film. Marcus raps about his experience in the foster care system, and this is a rap LaKeith Stanfield actually wrote.
It’s pretty awesome to see #LaKeithStanfield blow up like he has. I’ll never forget this scene from Short Term 12, one of his first films where he played a teen in a #fostercare group home https://t.co/JKx9bwspDQ

LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Straight Outta Compton (2015)
In 2015, the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton added to LaKeith Stanfield’s expansive resume of characters when he played the iconic Snoop Dogg.
The film chronicles the rise and fall of the 80’s and 90’s rap group with members like Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and MC Ren.
In an interview with VIBE Magazine, LaKeith Stanfield talks about why the film was so important to him, saying “I think this is like a landmark moment in movie history,” he said. “Hip-hop has become a staple in the community primarily thanks to groups like them who popularized the scene and stood for what they believed in on a national platform and now that we have social media, everyone has a voice. Essentially, that’s the core of what makes this movie special to me.”
LaKeith Stanfield’s Snoop Dogg was so convincing that people on Twitter had no idea it was him in the film.

LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Death Note (2017)
In 2021, Netflix released an adaptation of the Japanese anime series Death Note and LaKeith Stanfield plays the highly lucrative and unhinged detective named “L.” The film was an American adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi’s manga series and received high praise when it was first released.
One of the clear highlights of the film is LaKeith Stanfield playing “L” and his performance is both bizarre and enticing. Although LaKeith Stanfield was not familiar with the original manga, once he landed the role, he took a deep dive into the character to figure out exactly who “L” was.
“[L] has such a beautiful mind that was so attractive, and his ability to do things that the normal everyday mind would seem to not be able to achieve,” the actor says about the personality traits of the character. “His social awkwardness made him relatable to me. I feel socially awkward a lot and I feel like I don’t always fit in. But his not being aware of that made him likable to me, that he would be sort of brazen in a social sense because there was no need to appeal to social convention.”
LaKeith Stanfield’s weirdness meshed well with “L” and he was able to cultivate such a complex character, once again proving he dominates every scene he’s in.

LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Get Out (2017)
Jordan Peele made his transition from comedy to horror when releasing his film Get Out. The movie was a political commentary on race in America and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The movie won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and Daniel Kaluuya was nominated for Best Actor. The film also stars Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, and Lil Rel Howery.
Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield share a moment in the movie where LaKeith Stanfield’s character repeatedly screams the name of the film over and over again.
LaKeith Stanfield did not play a big part in Get Out, yet after the release of the movie, he was recognized for this famous scene. He attributes this popularity to this specific scene that became a meme and spread all over the internet.

“When I said, ‘Get out!’ the first time, I remember thinking, I hope this ends up in the trailer, and it did. At the Oscars, I had a little bit where I had to run on stage and tell everyone in the audience to get out.” LaKeith Stanfield said in an interview with Cinema Blend. “And I remember seeing the outfit in the green room and thinking it’s crazy how iconic it became. People had started dressing up as me on Halloween. My mom had people coming to her door dressed as me!”

LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Sorry to Bother You put LaKeith Standfield on the map in Hollywood for promising young actors. His performance as Cassius ‘Cash’ Green was his biggest role to date and the film is almost as unconventional as he is. LaKeith Stanfield plays an African American telemarketer who uses his “white voice” to sell to people and begins to work his way up the corporate ladder. The journey we go on in the film is visually stunning and dystopian, and we honestly can’t think of any actor other than LaKeith Stanfield to play the part.

Although the film won Best First Feature at the 2019 Independent Spirit Awards, many people online thought LaKeith Stanfield and Sorry to Bother You were snubbed during the 2018 award show season.

LaKeith Stanfield: Uncut Gems (2019)
From directors Benny Safdie and Josh Safdie came the gritty and anxiety-inducing film Uncut Gems. LaKeith Stanfield plays a jewelry hustler named Demany, who works closely with Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) to get high-profile celebrities to come into their shop and spend as much money as possible. Demany’s personality unravels throughout the film, and layer by layer, he shows his true colors. LaKeith Stanfield portrayed Demany with honesty and made the character his own while sticking to the tone of the movie.

When Adam Sandler and LaKeith Stanfield saw the film for the first time, they were just as surprised and stressed and everyone else who watched the film.
“When LaKeith saw it for the first time, I was with him. Right after the screening, he looked so shook up,” Adam Sandler told W Magazine. “I was like, ‘You alright?’ He goes, ‘Man, I didn’t know any of that was coming.’ Even though we knew the script, just the feel of it—the music, the way they cut it—those guys did their thing.”
Even though LaKeith Stanfield was caught off guard after watching Uncut Gems, his unpredictable performance was the glue that held the movie together.

LaKeith Stanfield TV Shows: Atlanta
Outside of the movie world, LaKeith Stanfield has also had success on television, especially for his role as Darius in Atlanta.
The show follows three rappers navigating their way through the Atlanta music scene to support their families and better their life. LaKeith Stanfield stars alongside Donald Glover and Brian Tyree Henry. Since its initial release, Atlanta has become one of the most popular shows on television, mostly due to its fire cast. It seems that everything that LaKeith Stanfield touches becomes absolute gold.

We definitely have something to look forward to though, because season 3 of Atlanta picked up filming in Chicago last week. Also, the caption of Lakeith Stanfield’s IG post has us LOLing:
LaKeith Stanfield Movies: Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)
Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield reunited after Get Out in the 2021 film Judas and the Black Messiah. The film is an autobiographical story following the betrayal of Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya), chairman of the Black Panther party, by an FBI Informant, William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield). The film was nominated at the Oscars for Best Picture and both Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield were nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
Daniel Kaluuya won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and in his speech thanked “the gift that is LaKeith Stanfield.” They are very close friends and colleagues and together their success has no bounds.
LaKeith Stanfield speaks fondly of Daniel Kaluuya as well, saying that filming with him the second time around was way more rewarding. “I didn’t really get to know him or meet him that much on Get Out. We had conversations off-camera, but I wasn’t on set for more than like a week. On Judas, we had a lot more off-screen time to hang out together and discuss things, so I really got to know him a lot better through that. He’s just a beautiful guy.”
While the film was not released in movie theaters, you can watch the dynamic duo that is LaKeith Standfield and Daniel Kaluuya in Judas and the Black Messiah on Apple TV+.
LaKeith Stanfield: a movie star and fashion icon
Aside from the world of Hollywood movies, LaKeith Stanfield SLAYS in the fashion world. His style is fearless and a bit weird, but we are HERE for it. Whether it be a sundress or a 70’s jumpsuit, LaKeith Stanfield steals the show when it comes to fashion.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, LaKeith Stanfield talked about his love of fashion and how he uses it as a part of self-expression. “I just love dressing up, it’s part of my expression, whatever I’m feeling on any given day. I might appear in a sundress if it’s hot enough, because I like feeling the sun all over me.”
