If you pay attention to the fashion industry at all, then you know that Ashley Graham has been slayying all of the magazine spreads and killing it on the runway for the past year or so. The curvaceous model has been a wonderful body positive inspiration for women, so it’s no surprise that Mattel has just blessed her with her very own Barbie doll.
Graham is one of Glamour’s Women of the Year honorees and she unveiled her Barbie at the Women of the Year Summit in Los Angeles. The supermodel worked with Mattel to create her Barbie which is made in her measurements. She also requested that the Barbie have cellulite and no thigh gap which Mattel was able to deliver on.
For her Barbie’s outfit, Graham chose to create one of her post-New York Fashion Week looks, a bedazzled jean jacket and skin-tight, glittery dress. Graham told Glamour, “I’ve never been a girl to cover up my body. [My Barbie’s] not covered up. She’s just being her fashionable self.”
The stunning model was super thrilled about after seeing her Barbie for the first time, she exclaimed, “She got a round belly. She got round hips. She got round everything, yes!”
This is an amazing moment for the super sexy curvy model who said, “Beyond the fashion, it’s so incredible because, now, I’m not striving to be Barbie. I am Barbie. Everyone can be Barbie.”
If you want to grab an Ashley Graham Barbie, you might be out of luck, Mattel only produced two of the dolls, one for Graham to take home, and another for their own stock.
