Benedict Cumberbatch ‘Only Eats Fruits and Vegetables’

Sherlock actor Rupert Graves is impressed by Benedict Cumberbatch’s ability to follow a strict diet of fruit and vegetables.

Rupert plays Inspector Lestrade in the hit BBC detective drama, a police officer who reluctantly engages Benedict’s Sherlock Holmes to help him with tricky cases.

Now, the 54-year-old actor has revealed that during filming his co-star, who has gone on to star as Marvel superhero Doctor Strange, insisted on having healthy food delivered to the set.

“He (Benedict) keeps himself in very good shape by eating very sensibly,” Rupert told the Daily Mail. “He only eats bananas, hummus, vegetables, and nuts. And then he has a special lunch brought in.”

The fourth series of Sherlock aired earlier this year (17), and more series are reportedly in the works despite Benedict, 41, becoming a coveted Hollywood star.

Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat has planned another season and Benedict is open to returning when he can find an opening in his busy schedule.

“We love doing the show and all I’ll say about it is that we’re all very busy,” he told the Associated Press previously. “For now, it’s not going to happen again at the same regularity that it has been happening. But we’ll see, we’ll never say never and when it’s right, and if it’s right, we’ll do more.”
