One of the songs (or demos) off of Beyoncé‘s still-untitled upcoming album has leaked, and it’s called Girls (Who Run The World). But it really doesn’t matter if it’s a demo OR the final cut of the song, because either way, it just shouldn’t be. It’s completely boring, and the elements that were included to try and individualize it (like Gwen Stefani’s snare drums) do not jive well with Beyoncé’s message that this song is for all the girls in the club (like she has to tell us anymore!). Listening to it, it feels like the entire song consists of, at the most, three different notes, which makes it incredibly repetitious — and it particularly doesn’t help that the chorus consists of the same line sung 12 or 13 times. But it strangely seems completely erratic and when you’re listening to it, there’s nothing for you to actually latch on to and enjoy. Basically speaking, I’ll rather take my chances with finding entertainment in watching cab drivers speed away from people who are trying to hail a cab while holding the leash of their incontinent-looking dogs.
