Billboard Beats: Bruno Mars to Challenge Baauer and Macklemore?

Bruno Mars

Last week, Billboard made some revolutionary changes in the formula that they use to put together the Hot 100 chart. By including YouTube views into the strategy, Baauer‘s wordless electronic song “Harlem Shake” took over the chart’s top spot. This week, the “Harlem Shake” is still at No. 1 and Mackemore‘s “Thrift Shop” is holding steady at No. 2 — but Bruno Mars‘ “When I Was Your Man” is encroaching on their territory.

“When I Was Your Man” has been on the chart for 10 weeks now. Last week, it reached No. 8 — and this week, it jumped up five spots to No.3. At the end of 2012 and the start of 2013, Mars’ “Locked Out Of Heaven” held the No. 1 spot for several weeks before being pushed out by Macklemore. Could we be looking at a similar situation soon with “When I Was Your Man”?
