You’re going to need to sit down for this one if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Okay, here it goes.

Han Solo and Princess Leia, the couple everyone has been shipping for 40 years, was a real-life couple. It happened, and Carrie Fisher is finally going public with this closely-guarded, 40-year-old secret.

While filming the original Star Wars in 1976, 19-year-old Fisher had a three-month affair with Harrison Ford, who was a 33-year-old father of two at the time. The actress, who spoke to Peopleadmitted that the real-life romance “was so intense.”

“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” she said.

The 60-year-old actress felt that it was time to open after she stumbled upon the angst-ridden journals she kept while filming Star Wars in London. “It’s been 40 years,” she explained.

The pair spent their first night together after a birthday party for George Lucas. Back then, Fisher wasn’t the confident, sassy woman we know today. In her book The Princess Diarist, she admits that she was riddled with self doubt when she realized Harrison, a very attractive, older man, was interested in her.

“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she wrote. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”

When filming ended, the relationship had run its course, and Fisher never uttered a word until now.

“I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him,” she says. “He was kind.”

Yikes. We’re not going to say we totally knew it, but we totally knew it.
