Ed Sheeran’s Doppelganger Says It’s Ruining His Love Life

Being a celebrity doppelganger isn’t easy. Some would say it’s almost as exhausting as actually being a celebrity. There’s none of the money, none of the glory, and actually, it turns out people just bother you a whole lot.

Ty Jones, an average 21-year-old from Manchester who happens to look exactly like British pop sensation and Taylor Swift bestie Ed Sheeran, says that his looks are literally ruining his love life.

“It’s made my relationships worse I’d say because now I have to weigh up if they like me for me or are they’re just interested in me because I’m the next best thing to Ed if they really like him,” he tells Mirror. “When girls ask me for pictures in the streets it’s annoyed some of my girlfriends in the past and caused problems. It’s hard to explain because it’s not like I can help it and I don’t like being horrible to people and deny them a picture if they want one.”

Oh, the struggles of looking like you’re famous! You never know who to trust.

Jones also goes on to mention how people will not leave him alone because they don’t believe he’s not Sheeran. He even caused a riot in Manchester when he went to where Sheeran was playing to take pictures with fans and promote himself as a professional lookalike.

“Everyone was around me taking pictures in the tunnel, and the police had to drag me out. Girls were having panic attacks and everything in front of me,” he said.

Not all is painfully annoying in the tortured life of being a celebrity doppelganger. Jones got the opportunity to meet Sheeran in 2012, when a post went viral saying Ed Sheeran was at a rave in Manchester, but it was actually just Jones. Sheeran, himself, was shocked at the resemblance.

Since then, Jones has appeared on multiple episodes of the TV show Lookalikes, and even signed with a lookalike agency to help get him gigs. Though Jones works at a bar for his main source of income, he impersonates Sheeran at birthday parties, weddings and other events making over $200 a pop. Not bad if you ask us.
