Did you know that “Hollaback Girl” was actually a diss track to Courtney Love? The rock star made this comment about Gwen Stefani in Seventeen:
“Being famous is just like being in high school. But I’m not interested in being the cheerleader. I’m not interested in being Gwen Stefani. She’s the cheerleader, and I’m out in the smoker’s shed.”
Who knew a diss track on a debut solo album would become the iconic anthem it is today?
We still go B-A-N-A-N-A-S for Hollaback Girl and other Gwen Stefani classics like “Rich Girl,” “The Sweet Escape,” and “What You Waiting For?.”
Gwen Stefani recently reintroduced herself with new music after not releasing anything in four years. Her latest single, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself,” pays homage to “Hollaback Girl” with the line “And it tastes great (Great), I already gave you bananas (Woo)”.
