Dating in Hollywood can be weird. Circles run small, and the chance of running into an ex is pretty high. Like any relationship, some celeb couples break up. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were the IT couple in Hollywood. After joint magazine cover, business ventures, red carpet appearances, and their families’ combing, the two have decided to call it quits. They attempted to work through their problems but ultimately thought it would be better to move forward separately.  Earlier this week, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriquez decided to separate, making a joint statement to the TODAY show:

The celeb couple released an announcement on Thursday, April 15th, 2021:

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects, and we wish the best for each other and each other’s children.”

Breakups aren’t always dramatic, and Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are here to remind us of that. They both just want what is best for their families, and if that means separating, then that is the best choice for them.

It did not take long for fans on Twitter to react to the news.

Following the release of the statement, Jennifer Lopez posted to Instagram to let us know #HotGirlSummer is officially activated.

Staying on good terms with an ex can be difficult, but these famous Hollywood couples made it work after breaking up and will be a great example as J-Lo and A-Rod navigate the transition from Hollywood couple to celeb friends.

Demi Moore & Bruce Willis

Hollywood A-listers Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were married over a decade, and although it ended with divorce, the Hollywood pair remain very close to this day. They have even said that getting a divorce saved their relationship. Whatever they lacked romantically, they made up for it with amazing co-parenting and an unbreakable friendship.

In 2005, Bruce Willis attended Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s wedding, and in 2019 Demi Moore was a part of the vow renewal ceremony for Bruce Willis and his wife, Emma Heming

Just last year, Demi Moore posted a throwback pic of her and Bruce Willis at the 1987 Emmy Awards.

Demi Moore admits, “I think both of us from the outset were more passionate about having kids than we were about being married.” While the pair is better off as friends, there’s no denying they have built a beautiful family together.

Miley Cyrus & Cody Simpson

Although Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson’s relationship was brief, their feelings for one another seemed to develop pretty quickly. Just months after a messy breakup with Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus started showing off her new beau Cody Simpson

A source told E! News, “Cody felt like he was in a different place and wanted to be single. Miley started to get busy working on new music, and their relationship fizzled out. Nothing bad happened, and they still respect each other. Miley has expressed she wants to be single for a while.”

Miley Cyrus does not want the Hollywood media or anyone to get the story twisted. She and Cody Simpson are friends and will continue to be friends.

In a video promoting her album, Plastic Hearts, she expressed, “Like everybody else our age, were deciding who we want to be with our lives, so don’t make it some drama story if were out getting pizza, we’ve been friends for ten years and will continue to be friends”

Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama

After dating for six years, celeb couple Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama split in 2016 much to fans’ dismay. But despite going their separate ways, the two never stopped caring for each other and still give each other undying support.

While they are both moving forward with their own lives, Wilmer Valderrama has supported Demi Lovato through her struggles with drug use and mental health issues.

In 2018,  the two Hollywood stars reunited to work on the animated movie Charming, which is now streaming on Netflix.

Wilmer Valderrama couldn’t be more ecstatic about the film’s release and took to Instagram to express his gratitude, tagging his dear friend and ex-girlfriend, Demi Lovato.

Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux

Back in 2018, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced their divorce after three years of marriage. They described the split as “mutual and loving” but mainly remained quiet about going separate.

Three years later in 2021, Justin Theroux sat down with Esquire and set the record straight about his split from Hollywood A-lister Jennifer Aniston

“We don’t talk every day, but we call each other. We FaceTime. We text,” Justin shared. “Like it or not, we didn’t have that dramatic split, and we love each other. I’m sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship. We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship.”

Justin Theroux says if he did not have a friendship with Jennifer Aniston,  he would be losing out. We think he’s right.

These two can really teach us a thing or two about breaking up.

Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone met when filming the Hollywood box office hit, The Amazing Spiderman, and dated for over three years. The celeb couple lived a very private life away from the public eye and never officially confirmed their relationship.

The Hollywood couple first split in 2015 but were spotted at multiple events after the rumored breakup, sparking hope that they were still together. Evidence suggested that they were simply good friends and just had an admiration towards one another, despite going their separate ways. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield ended things because their schedules as famous actors didn’t give them enough time to dedicate to a romantic relationship.

Everything worked out in the end and Emma Stone recently welcomed a baby girl with partner Dave McCary.
