Today’s Highs

ALTScott Pilgrim Vs. The End

The final Scott Pilgrim book, Scott Pilgrim’s Final Hour was released today, and you have no excuse not to check it out. Worried about spoiling the ending of the movie? No problem, they’re different! Don’t have any money? Just shoplift! Haven’t read any of the other Scott Pilgrim books? It’s ok, go do that now, we’ll wait here for you.

Welcome back! Wasn’t that fun? I knew you’d like it. Now come back in another month once you’ve seen the movie. We’ll still be here.

Today’s Lows

ALTGod Has No Problem With New York Comic-Con, For The Record

The Westboro Baptist Church, who are colloquially known as “those asshats with too much time on their hands”, have added comics fans to their master list of people they hate/people who they think harassing will get them more attention. As silly as the church’s pervasive, eight-person protests are, I think they’re biting off more than they can chew by taking on the Con. Hell hath no fury like a nerd mocked, and there are enough people with “free hugs” signs that there’s bound to be some confusion.

ALTLeave Lindsay Alone!

At one point in my life, I would be naive enough to believe that, because Lindsay Lohan was in jail, we would get to hear less about her and the inane details of her personal life. Unfortunately, because this has been a slow summer, Lindsay’s jail time is just barely interesting enough to provide fodder for entertainment writers, such as myself, who are desperate for something, anything, to write about in order to justify the paychecks that they receive a few times a month. So now we get news about what her cell looks like, what kind of food she’s going to eat, and whether she’s been assaulted by the wild packs of lesbians that the media apparently think roam minimum security prisons. If we can’t even get some piece and quiet with Lohan in prison, what’s the next step, sending her to the moon? Though I’m pretty sure we’d end up with weekly astronaut fashion reports,  Linsay’s favorite dehydrated food blog, and a “watch Lindsay pee in a bag” livestream.
