Musicians Ozuna, Rosalia, and Juan Luis Guerra saluted rocker Juanes on Wednesday (November 13, 2019) when he was celebrated as the Latin Recording Academy’s 2019 Person of the Year.
Juanes was the guest of honour at the special Las Vegas event, where Rosalia delivered a cover of his 2002 tune Es Por Ti, while Ozuna gave the Colombian’s smash hit La Camisa Negra a little reggaeton flavor with his performance.
Guerra also played A Dios Le Pido, while singer Fito Paez treated the audience to his version of Fijate Bien, before Juanes himself took center stage to perform No Creo En El Jamas as he expressed his gratitude for the Latin Recording Academy’s career recognition, and shared his love for his native country.
“Colombia, Colombia, Colombia. Colombia is the beginning and end of my life,” he told the audience, which included his wife Karen Martinez, and their three children.
The show took place on the eve of the Latin Grammy Awards, which will be hosted by Ricky Martin, Roselyn Sanchez, and Paz Vega from Sin City on Thursday night.
Juanes follows in the footsteps of Mexican pop/rock band Mana, who were presented with the prize last year (2018).
