Justin Bieber’s Mom Pens Memoir: Drugs, Suicide & Finding Hope

The BiebersConsidering the fact that Justin Bieber’s autobiographical concert movie Never Say Never reached a fandom status bordering on major world religion, it stands to reason that people are very interested in hearing about the artist’s life story. Thus, hearing about his childhood from his mother’s point of view seems like an idea that would be of interest to many. Pattie Mallette, Bieber’s 36 year-old single mother, is releasing an autobiography: Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom. The book includes a foreword written by Bieber himself.

Mallette’s story expresses the challenges of raising a Justin independently, and at the young age of 18. However, the book will serve to credit her son as the very thing that saved her life and turned things around for her after an onslaught of personal challenges, including poverty. Covered in the book are Mallette’s struggles with drug and alcohol abuse and the suicide attempt she undertook at age 17.

Mallette explains that she wrote the book for the benefit of other young women dealing with similar problems, saying, “I want them to see that no matter how desperate their circumstances may be, they can have hope for a better future.”

The book will be available Sept. 18.
