Kevin Hart calls for arrest of officers involved in George Floyd’s killing

Kevin Hart is pushing for the arrest of all four police officers who were involved in the death of George Floyd.

The actor shared several urgent tweets on Sunday (May 31, 2020), in which he condemned the actions of the Minneapolis, Minnesota cops, who were fired after the tragedy last week (May 25, 2020) and demanded justice, insisting their dismissal from the force is not enough.

“You can’t ask for peace if your not willing to give JUSTICE….people want JUSTICE (sic),” Hart wrote. “It’s that simple….Throw all of those cops in jail NOOOOOWWW. That’s taking action… Point blank!!!! This is what we want to see… JUSTICE.”

Derek Chauvin, the officer caught on camera with his knee on Floyd’s neck, was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on Friday, but his three colleagues have yet to be taken into custody or charged with any crime.

The Upside star has also demanded a conversation for change, adding he’s willing to be part of any meeting between civil rights leaders and police officials.

“Be a part of the conversation of change… we want and need change,” he added. “The system is flawed and needs to be corrected. The police need to be policed… we need laws in place that will give us the safety that we as people deserve. Stop ignoring the PROBLEM.”

He then called attention to the Black Lives Matter protests that have hit the streets throughout U.S. in the wake of the Floyd tragedy, noting it’s an indication of long-standing issues that need to be addressed.

He added, “This is not about RIOTING & LOOTING… do not let that become the narrative… This is about social injustice… THIS IS ABOUT THE UNFAIR TREATMENT THAT PEOPLE OF COLOR HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH YEEEAAAARRRRSSS!!!!! THATS WHAT THIS IS ABOUT…”

Hart joins Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and several other stars who are calling for change following Floyd’s death.
