The 76 year old and his country singer wife both filed divorce papers in Los Angeles last week (begs12Apr10), each citing irreconcilable differences for the breakdown of their 13-year marriage.
Recent reports suggested the estranged couple had agreed to attend marriage counselling sessions in a bid to save their relationship after attending their son’s baseball match in Beverly Hills, California together on Thursday (15Apr10), where they were snapped hugging and chatting.
King’s lawyer Dennis Wasser immediately dismissed speculation his client was reuniting with Southwick, insisting “the divorce is proceeding”, but now he’s confused about the split.
He tells People.com, “There’s a 50-50 chance this divorce is not happening. His focus is on the best interest of his children. It’s not clear to me which way he’s going to turn on this issue.”
The couple has two sons, 11-year-old Chance and nine-year-old Cannon.
