KJ Apa: ‘I never really wanted to be an actor’

KJ Apa had his eye on a career in music before his acting career took off.

The star, 22, rose to fame playing Archie Andrews in the CW drama series Riverdale – but has revealed a career on-screen was never part of the plan.

“I never really wanted to be an actor, it was never really something that I actively pursued,” he told Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

KJ went on to admit that, while he does enjoy acting, he doesn’t see it as “the end game”, explaining: “I have always been super-passionate about music, that is my first love. I love being a part of things that I am super-inspired by at the end of the day.”

The actor, who appeared at the annual 2019 Oz Comic-Con – Sydney over the weekend (September 28-29, 2019), teased fans that he plans to release music soon, with a possible album also in the works with his four-piece rock ‘n’ roll band, The Good Time Boys.
