Lindsay Lohan Charged with Misdemeanor, Sent to Jail

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan went into court yesterday planning to ask Judge Sautner to postpone the hearing because it was Good Friday and she wanted to celebrate it, but things did not go as she had hoped. Not only did the judge decline to grant Lindsay the postponement she desired, but the felony grand theft charge that the jewelry store filed against her was downgraded to a misdemeanor, and the judge found the actress guilty of violating her parole and sentenced her to 120 days in county jail. Additionally, she was sentenced to perform 480 hours of community service, 360 of which she was to complete while she was in jail. The remaining 120 hours were to be performed in the LA County morgue. Judge Sautner explained her ruling stemmed from her belief that Lindsay should have contacted the jewelry store sooner and told the owners  that the necklace was in her possession instead of waiting several weeks and giving it back to the store after she found out the police were planning to search her house for it.

Once the hearing ended, Lindsay was escorted into the basement of the courthouse for booking and her lawyer said she planned to appeal the judge’s ruling, which meant Lindsay was allowed to post bail. She was then brought to Lynwood Correctional Facility. But five hours after she arrived, she posted her $75,000 bail and was allowed to leave.

Lindsay will be back in court for a pretrial hearing on May 11th, which should really take its time getting here.
