Live Nation & Manchester Arena issue statement following Ariana Grande concert explosion


Live Nation, Manchester Arena and the British Transport Police have released statements following an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert.

Live Nation bosses, the concert promoters, commented on the deadly incident in a press release on Monday (22May17).


“We are deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy and our hearts and thoughts are with those impacted by this devastating incident,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, a Facebook post on the official Manchester Arena page revealed that the blasts “occurred outside the venue in public space.”

The explosions killed at least 19 people and injured 50 at the venue following a concert headlined by Grande.

British Transport Police officials also released a statement in the aftermath of the explosion, and noted that no trains or trams will be running from Manchester Victoria station near the venue.

“Officers are at Manchester Arena following reports of an explosion within the foyer area of the stadium at 10.30pm this evening,” the statement read. “Emergency services are at the scene and we are working to establish more information regarding the explosion and will provide further updates as soon as possible.

“Please avoid the area whilst emergency services continue to respond to this incident. No trains or trams are running from Manchester Victoria station.”
