Mary Kennedy to undergo evaluation for alcohol treatment

Mary Richardson Kennedy was taken into custody on 15 May (10) after police allegedly witnessed her drive her car onto a sidewalk outside a school in Bedford.

She was arraigned in Bedford Town Court on Thursday (27May10), when she pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI).

Town Justice Kevin Quaranta suspended her license and ordered her to be examined “to determine if treatment is needed”, according to her lawyer, Kerry Lawrence.

Kennedy, who was released on bail, must return to court on 15 July (10).

Her arrest came days after cops were called to the Kennedy family home following two separate distress calls, although no further action was taken following the incident.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the son of assassinated politician Robert F. Kennedy, did not accompany his wife of 16 years in court.
