Paris Hilton is set to reveal all about a traumatic childhood experience she has kept secret for decades in her upcoming documentary.

In a newly-released trailer for This is Paris, the hotel heiress and socialite reveals she has faked her happy persona her whole life because it helped her hide the torment she suffered as a child.

“I feel like the whole world thinks they know me. No one really knows who I am. I’m always putting on this facade just like, happy and perfect life,” she says in the voiceover.

The footage features Paris having a one-on-one discussion about trauma with her sister Nicky, as the voiceover continues, “I don’t even know who I am sometimes. I didn’t used to be that way. Something happened in my childhood that I never talked about with anyone.”

The trailer then cuts to scenes of Paris sitting down with her parents, with her mom Kathy in tears as the former reality TV star shares, “I couldn’t tell you guys because every time I tried, I’d get punished by them. I still have nightmares about it.”

It’s not clear who the 39-year-old is referring to in the clip, but it’s cut with home video footage of Paris at what appears to be a boarding school.

“The only thing that saved my sanity was thinking about who I wanted to become when I got out of there,” she explains in the voiceover. “I just created this brand, this persona and this character. And I’ve been stuck with her ever since.”

This is Paris is set to debut on YouTube on September 14th.
