Selena Gomez, Cardi B, and Mary J. Blige join digital graduation events

Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Mary J. Blige, and Smokey Robinson have signed on to add their star power to virtual graduation celebrations saluting the Class of 2020.

Taki Taki collaborators Selena and Cardi are among the latest celebrities to join the line-up for Friday’s (May 15, 2020) #Graduation2020: Facebook and Instagram Celebrate the Class of 2020 event, which will be co-hosted by former The Office co-stars Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak.

The special live-stream will kick off at 11 am PST on both Facebook Watch and Instagram, and also boast appearances from Miley Cyrus, Usher, Matthew McConaughey, Lil Nas X, Jennifer Garner, Awkwafina, and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, while Oprah Winfrey will deliver the commencement address.

Others set to feature include Diplo, Gloria Estefan, Kristen Bell, Hailee Steinfeld, Milo Ventimiglia, Amy Schumer, Luke Bryan, DJ Khaled, Emily Ratajkowski, Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham, and Yara Shahidi.

Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige and Smokey Robinson will be part of the iHeartMedia podcast special, Commencement: Speeches for the Class of 2020

Along with actors Rita Wilson, Henry Winkler, Freida Pinto, and Becky G, rapper T.I., newsman Tom Brokaw, Apple boss Tim Cook, and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his philanthropist wife Melinda, they will share words of wisdom for graduating students, who are unable to mark their academic achievements with the traditional ceremony due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Previously announced speakers include artists Halsey, Kesha, John Legend, Pitbull, Tim McGraw, and DJ Khaled, actress Sienna Miller, retired American football star Eli Manning, and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The speeches will be published on Friday, ahead of America’s National Graduation Day on Sunday.
