Saturday Night Live’s Amy Poehler was a no-show last night on the live telecast. Why?
During the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live, Poehler‘s co-anchor Seth Meyers announced to a cheering crowd: “Amy Poehler is not here tonight because she is having a baby.”
Well, finally! People.com reports she and husband, actor Will Arnett, welcomed a baby boy, Archie Arnett, weighing in at 8 lbs., 1 oz. “Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably,” their rep Lewis Kay said.
The Emmy-nominated actress has been an amazing trouper, showing up to deliver scathingly funny impersonations of Hillary Clinton and Katie Couric, as well as co-anchor Weekend Update, all while being enormously pregnant.
“I’ve been very lucky,” Poehler, 37, told People in July. “I’m feeling good, and I’m just overwhelmed with blessings.”
Actually, the successful comedic couple are both still working pretty hard. Arnett will star with Kristen Bell in the big-screen comedy When in Rome, and Poehler — who is leaving SNL this year (sob!) — will return to NBC in the spring as the star of an as-yet-untitled primetime comedy.
Wonder if she’ll make an appearance on SNL come election time? Now THAT would be dedication for you.
