‘Sopranos’ Star Aims for Plea Deal over Murder

Former The Sopranos actor Lillo Brancato Jr. is hoping to strike a deal with prosecutors over his involvement in the murder of a New York City police officer.

The troubled star, 29, faces charges of second-degree murder, while his friend Steven Armento, 48, has been accused of first-degree murder for fatally shooting off-duty cop Daniel Enchautegui during a burglary in the Bronx last December.

Following a pre-trial hearing in Bronx Supreme Court yesterday, Brancato Jr.’s lawyer says, “He’s not a murderer, and the conduct that he engaged in is a far cry from murder.”

Brancato Jr insists he didn’t known Armento–father of his ex-girlfriend Stefanie–was carrying a gun. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
