The Worst Celebrity Breakups of 2015 (So Far…)

Celebrity breakups are almost more devastating than regular breakups. So many of our favorite couples have parted ways this year, leaving us to wonder if true love is dead (how could you, Miss Piggy and Kermit?!) — check out the breakups that we’re saddest about so far in 2015.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

After nearly four years together, Spider-Man couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have decided to call it quits. The duo still remain good friends and care about one another deeply, however like many acting couples they have fallen victim to the perils of long-distance dating. We're still crossing our fingers that these two work it out in the future.
Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry

Apparently the third time wasn't the charm for Halle Berry. The actress has filed for divorce from French actor Olivier Martinez citing irreconcilable differences. The pair issued a joint statement stating, "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son."  However, it seems like Berry and Martinez's differences stemmed from Martinez's disdain for LA as well as his temper. He got into a brawl with Berry's ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, in 2012 and earlier this year he was caught on camera hitting an LAX employee with a baby car seat.
Ryan Sweeting and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting

It seemed like a whirlwind romance for Ryan Sweeting and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, when the duo got married on New Years Eve in 2013 after only three months of dating. Ultimately, their marriage was short lived. The Big Bang Theory star filed for divorce this past September stating irreconcilable differences. Unfortunately it looks like things might get ugly with these two, Sweeting is asking for spousal support for his soon to be ex-wife who is reportedly worth $45 million dollars. Meanwhile, Cuoco-Sweeting seems to just want to move on with her life.

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger

It's been a very rough year for rocker Avril Lavigne, who announced that she's been quietly recovering from a battle with lyme disease. In early September, Lavinge posted on Instagram that she her hubby, Nickleback's Chad Kroeger were separating. She wrote, "We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long

Though Amanda Seyfried was initially drawn to funny man Justin Long because of his epic sense of humor, the duos' relationship ultimately fizzled after two years of dating. Deciding that they were ultimately incompatible romantically, these two still remain on good terms as friends.
Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll

Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll recently called it quits after two years of dating. As comedians, Poehler and Kroll worked well together especially when Kroll guest starred on Poehler's NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. Though things didn't work out for the long haul for these two, there doesn't seem to be any animosity between them. Meanwhile, we can all desperately hope that Poehler rekindles her relationship with her former husband, Will Arnett.

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt

Though they were never married, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt had been together for nearly two decades so it came as quite shock when the duo announced their separation over the summer. The pair issued a statement to PEOPLE saying, "With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history. We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward." Does anything last these days?

With the latest split of summer 2015, we are now totally convinced that true love is dead. The couple, who married in 2010, have two sons together and have been together for 11 years. They reportedly decided to separate earlier this year, and were last photographed together on June 9th.

The world was truly stunned when our favorite Muppet couple announced their split. If these two couldn't make it work, how could there be hope for the rest of us? They announced they will still work together but have chosen to date other "people, frogs, pigs, etc." Our hearts are seriously broken.

Rumors of trouble in paradise had long plagued this A-list couple, but we truly thought they could overcome anything. They publicly declared their split just one day after their 10th wedding anniversary, saying in a statement: "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

Kourtney and Scott famously shared many ups and downs during their nine-year courtship, and their struggles were often the focus of many Kardashian family show story lines. With three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, we were rooting for the duo to work through their issues and come out stronger.

We were shocked when the country crooners announced their divorce earlier this summer because they'd convinced us, despite rumors to the contrary, that their union was stronger than ever. They said: "This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards

Zayn broke our hearts twice in 2015: first by announcing his departure from One Direction and second by dumping fiance Perrie over a text message (who ends an engagement via text?!). We were looking forward to seeing their wedding photos (and which former bandmates would be in attendance) but I guess we'll always be left to wonder what could've been.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

Perhaps the most shocking one of all -- we were blindsided when Gwen and Gavin told the world their 13-year marriage had come to an end. The No Doubt singer and the Blur frontman are parents to Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo and say they remain "committed to jointly raising {their} three sons in a happy and healthy environment."

Another of our favorite country duos, Reba and Narvel saddened us with the news of their separation after 26 years of marriage. They are splitting on amicable terms, however, and plan to continue working together and supporting one another.

This twosome was too hot for words, and there's no need to explain why Nick would be "jealous" of other guys -- Olivia is a beauty. They dated for two years and admitted that the heartbreak of the split was tough. Nick said "She's an amazing person. We had a great, a beautiful two years together." Aw, Nick!
Britney Spears and Charlie Ebersol

We have always rooted for our girl Brit to find true love and happiness -- after many public struggles and whirlwind romances, we love to see her happy and settled and truly thought Charlie was the one for her. She told People Magazine: "There was something about him that made me feel really peaceful and at ease. And he was really hot, too. Adorably hot." There were even rumors that Charlie wanted to propose to Britney, so we were shocked when they parted ways after an eight-month relationship. We just want Britney to find her happily ever after!
Becky G and Austin Mahone

Their romance was short-lived, but they looked so in love, we were surprised when these two broke up this summer. They're both so young and will hopefully recover from this tough time just fine, but we'd be lying if we said we weren't sad about this one.

Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder

One Direction fans were shocked when Louis and Eleanor decided to go in different directions this summer after almost four years together. They started dating right when 1D burst onto the music scene and were a picture perfect pair. But we'll guess that there are more than a few ladies who'd like to try and mend his heart.

The third country split of the summer comes from Jake Owen and his wife of three years. Earlier this year, he addressed rumors and said they were in therapy and considering divorce, and unfortunately, couldn't find a way to make it work. The couple share one daughter, Pearl, and will focus on her happiness following the divorce.
