It’s not uncommon for celebrities to choose to make extra money by making commercials that will air in foreign countries. Filming them takes less time than it does to make a movie, and the money is usually very good for the amount of effort that production requires. Besides payment, the only thing celebrities usually insist upon before they agree to star in a German commercial for Heineken or a Japanese coffee commercial is the promise that the commercial will only air in the country it’s designated to air in, and will not be shown in the United States. Once this is agreed upon actors have the green light to do things that if done in America, would damage their esteemed reputations.
Celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Robert De Niro are all known to enjoy this quick mode of generating extra income. As are Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston. But the one person we all thought would never be caught dead in a commercial for a foreign country’s product was George Clooney, because he has too much self respect and never comes across as someone who’s looking to do anything other than charity and big budget movies. But it appears we assumed incorrectly, because below you will find the pretty humorous commercial he filmed for a Norwegian bank.
