Jacob Tremblay intrigued by Wonder prosthetics

Child star Jacob Tremblay has become fascinated by the world of movie prosthetics after having to play a disfigured boy in new film Wonder.
The breakout actor of Room portrays August ‘Auggie’ Pullman, a kid who struggles to fit in at a new school due to a facial deformity.
Jacob admits working with the prosthetic was an interesting experience, although it did get a little uncomfortable at times, especially while shooting in the sunshine in his native Canada.
“It was really itchy, but if you don’t think about it, it kinda feels like a nice, warm cocoon on your face,” he told U.S. breakfast show Today. “The studio was usually so cold, but then when we shot outside, it was Vancouver in summertime and it can get pretty hot out there, so that was tough, but other than that, I like the prosthetic.”
The 10-year-old also became intrigued by how prop masters created the extra layer of fake skin, which covered part of his cheek and the top of his lip.
“I like seeing how they make it,” he said, “I thought that was pretty cool.”
The movie is based on author R.J. Palacio’s best-selling 2012 children’s novel of the same name, and co-stars Julia Roberts as Auggie’s worried mother.
Stephen Chbosky, who adapted his own novel Perks of Being a Wallflower into a film, directed the project, which also features Owen Wilson as the boy’s dad.
Wonder is set for release in November (17).
