Actor Alec Baldwin has undergone hip replacement surgery.
The Departed star’s wife, Hilaria, shared the news of the 59-year-old’s impending medical procedure on social media on Tuesday evening (06Feb18), as Alec prepared to fulfill one last work commitment for his Here’s the Thing podcast in New York.
“It’s been a day…jury duty, crabby kids, vet, meetings, pancakes that went oh so wrong…,” she captioned a snap of the couple, “but I’m ending it with an amazing experience watching Alec interview (author) Michael Wolff for #heresthething…”
Asking for fans’ well wishes, she added, “now we rest because tomorrow morning we are in the hospital bright and early for his hip to be replaced. Think good thoughts for us. We are gonna eat lightly, relax, and take deep breaths #WeGotThis2018.”
Hilaria returned to Instagram on Wednesday (07Feb18) to update fans on Alec’s operation, explaining he is now doing well.

Alongside a close-up photo of her hand resting on top of her husband’s, she wrote, “Thank you for your kind wishes. I know many of you are anxious to hear how he is doing. We have been here since very early…All went well in surgery and I am with him in recovery. (Love) to all”.
Alec has yet to personally comment on his health issue, but he’ll need to be back on his feet in time for the spring arrival of the couple’s fourth child, a little boy.
Hilaria, who is six months along, announced her latest pregnancy in November (17) with a sweet family snap of the proud parents-to-be lying on the floor with their three children: four-year-old Carmen, two-year-old Rafael, and little Leonardo, who turned one in September (17).
“Our Baldwinitos (sic) are getting a new teammate this spring…,” she captioned the image. “We are so excited! The Baldwin brood is about to get even bigger!”
Alec is also dad to 22-year-old model Ireland, his daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
