Allen’s “Scorpion” jazz jams

Woody Allen will step from the directing chair to the stage to bring his New York-based clarinet westward in August to promote his new film Curse of the Jade Scorpion. New Yorkers can see Allen perform on the clarinet with the Eddy Davis & His New Orleans Jazz Band when the band plays every Monday night at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan. This time around, audiences across the United States will have a chance to experience Allen‘s musical side. According to Reuters, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles will be the first cities able to check out Allen‘s clarinet skills during movie screenings, which will start on Aug. 1 in Seattle and end Aug. 6 in Los Angeles. The band will play a series of jazz clubs on selected dates. The performances will benefit local music charities. Tickets for the concert will go on sale locally July 23 at 10 a.m. DreamWorks will release Scorpion nationwide on Aug. 10.
