Alyssa Milano quashes Charmed reboot rumours

Alyssa Milano has ruled out a return to Charmed as TV bosses prepare to reboot the hit U.S. show.
A planned redevelopment of the CBS sci-fi series is still going ahead, but Alyssa has scuppered the hopes of fans everywhere by making it clear that she and the rest of the original cast, including co-stars Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs, will not feature in the franchise revamp.
In a series of tweets on Saturday (05Mar16), the actress directly addressed Charmed fans, and revealed the news they had been dreading.
“Nothing has been confirmed,” she wrote. “CBS is developing a reboot without the original cast. That’s all I know for sure.
“With all the reunion shows it seems like #charmed would be a great choice since we have the most loyal and best fans ever. But… I would imagine until CBS makes a decision on their reboot a true reunion type of show will not be happening due to CBS owning the rights.”
The reboot was first announced back in 2013, and at the time, original star Shannen told Digital Spy that a new show “wouldn’t have the same magic”.
Alyssa has previously voiced her support for a return to a rebooted version of Charmed, and even suggested that Shannen, who left the show in 2001 due to an alleged dispute between the pair, should also return.
