Amy Schumer reveals newborn son’s name

Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer have named their newborn son Gene.

The comedienne, who gave birth to the tot on Sunday night (May 5, 2019), announced the child’s moniker as she shared a sweet picture of him being cradled by his father.

“Gene Attell Fischer And his dad Chris,” she captioned the snap on her Instagram page.

It’s thought that Gene’s middle name is a tribute to Amy’s comedian pal Dave Attell, who invited her to perform with him during his show at Caroline’s in New York in January.

Following Amy’s name reveal, she was inundated with messages of congratulations from her famous friends, with Lena Dunham writing: “beauty boy and perfect best name.”

“He’s absolute perfection. Wow,” Juliette Lewis wrote, while Debra Messing commented: “Oh my God he’s so beautiful. Look at his eyes…. congratulations Mama! I’m so happy for you all!”

Amy previously revealed Gene’s birth by sharing a snap of Chris kissing her on the forehead as she held the baby in the delivery room, and referenced the fact he was born just hours before Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son as she wrote: “Our royal baby was born.”

The I Feel Pretty star had a tough pregnancy, battling extreme morning sickness after being diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, and she recently shared, “It was once explained to me that comparing hyperemesis gravidarum to morning sickness is like having an arrow through your skull and saying it’s like just a minor headache.”

Amy and chef Chris wed last year (2018).
