Anxious Gotham star Ben McKenzie hopes for a weekend delivery

Dad-to-be Ben McKenzie is hoping for a weekend (05-06Mar16) baby.
The Gotham star and his girlfriend and co-star, Morena Baccarin, are expecting their first child any day now, but Ben, 37, who plays a young Commissioner James Gordon in the Batman drama series, reveals they are still in the middle of filming episodes for the current second season, so he’s anxious every morning he heads to the set.
“It feels good,” the former The O.C. stars tells U.S. breakfast show Today of his impending fatherhood. “It’s a little terrifying but it’s very exciting.
“Every day I leave the house and I go to work and I say (to Morena), ‘No baby today! No baby today! Wait for the weekend!’ That’s the plan, then that way I can be there for 24 to 48 hours. We’re still shooting (the show).”
The pair began dating last summer (15), but didn’t go public with the romance until Morena, 36, confirmed the relationship in court papers linked to her ongoing divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband, director and screenwriter Austin Chick – the father of her two-year-old son Julius, two. Austin filed to end the couple’s four-year marriage last June (15).
“Today, I am in a new committed relationship,” she wrote in September (15). “I am planning to re-marry. Also, I am three and a half months pregnant.”
The stars have yet to comment on their marriage plans.
Meanwhile, Morena, who was granted primary physical custody of young Julius in November (15), recently requested a delay in finalising any financial settlements relating to the divorce until 30 days after she gives birth.
Her lawyers cited medical advice in the motion, as doctors fear engaging in negotiations while heavily pregnant will cause her too much stress.
She is currently paying Austin $2,693 (£1,938) a month in child support plus $20,249 (£14,557) in spousal support.
