AOL Time Warner may be moving closer to a deal to acquire AT&T’s
cable systems, published reports said today (Friday). The New York
Times, citing people close to the negotiations, said that the two
companies have signed a confidentiality agreement, a normal precursor to
a formal bid, prior to broadening their talks regarding AT&T
broadband, as the cable systems are known. AT&T has reportedly
signed similar confidentiality agreements with Comcast and Cox
Communications. The Los Angeles Times reported today that
AT&T has given all three companies until the end of the month to
place final bids.
