Babs Calls It Quits!

Bye bye, Babs. Start saving your pennies: Barbra Streisand, arguably the greatest female pop music diva of the century, annouced today that she’ll end her career as a public performer after four concerts (that can be expected to fetch lofty ticket prices) in September.

Streisand, 58, has had a lifelong struggle with anxiety over singing live onstage. Her manager, Martin Erlichman, told Reuters that the songstress “has chosen to conclude her public performance career in the two cities most closely associated with her work.”

The concerts will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sept. 20 and 21 and at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sept. 27 and 28. Tickets for the L.A. dates go on sale July 30, and on July 31 for the New York shows.
