Barbara Walters Says No to O.J.

Journalist extraordinaire Barbara Walters is taking a break from O.J. The “20/20” co-host has canceled an appearance by O.J. Simpson scheduled for Wednesday on her daytime talker “The View” after an onslaught of protests by viewers.

“I have received more very unhappy phone calls from viewers than I have in a very long time,” “The View” doyen told today’s New York Times.”

Walters added that she also received complaints from her own staff.

“They had very serious concerns about having O.J. on the show,” she told the Times.

Meredith Viera and Joy Behar, two other hosts of “The View,” shared their concerns about the booking on air last week. Another host, Star Jones, had expressed eagerness to talk with the former football star.

“The Today Show,” which has booked Simpson for Tuesday’s show, told the Times that it had no plans to cancel the appearance.
