Character Bio: Frankie Dunn is a boxing trainer, a detached loner, in the wake of a painful estrangement from his daughter. As portrayed by the grizzled Eastwood in one of his best performances to date, Frankie has not been willing to let himself get close to anyone for a very long time. Until Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) walks into his gym, with a fire in her belly to be a champion. Frankie doesn’t want that kind of responsibility–let alone that kind of risk–especially with a girl. But Maggie’s spirit and sheer determination soon win him over.
