Beverley Knight scraps summer tour to undergo surgery

Singer Beverley Knight has pulled the plug on an upcoming tour to focus on her health.
Knight is due to undergo surgery later this month (May17) after she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, a benign tumour that often affects Afro-Caribbean women.
The West End regular announced the news in a statement on social media, while her publicist reveals Beverley is “disappointed” she will be unable to commit to upcoming appearances.
“Beverley will need complete rest for several weeks after surgery in order to recover, after which she should return to full fitness,” the spokesperson says. “Beverley is very disappointed not to be able to tour in June as planned but is looking forward to seeing everyone in October.”
“I will be back and better than ever,” Knight writes.
The Come As You Are singer collapsed onstage during a tribute to the late Sir Terry Wogan last year (Nov16) and BBC bosses later edited out the dramatic moment when she was carried offstage.
Beverley put the health scare down to the heat in her dressing room backstage, insisting she simply fainted mid-performance.
