Beyonce’s mum hosting luncheon for Texas Senate candidate – report

Beyonce’s mother is getting political as she prepares to host a brunch fundraiser for a Texas Senate hopeful.
Tina Knowles Lawson, who is also mum to singer Solange, has signed up to lead the political event to support the campaign for Amanda Edwards, a Democratic councilwoman from Houston, who hopes to beat incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn for his U.S. Senate seat on Capitol Hill in America’s 2020 federal elections.
The New York Post reports tickets for the fundraiser start at $150 (£125) and cap off at $2,800 (£2,300) – the maximum amount donors are legally allowed to contribute to a Senate candidate’s primary campaign.
Beyonce has also shared endorsements for politicians in her home state of Texas – she previously endorsed current presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 campaign for the U.S. Senate, which he lost to incumbent Ted Cruz.
