Albert “Big Al” Rodriguez – Everyday Movie Guy |
|
| Albert grew up in Brooklyn back in the ‘50s, a projects kid for about 38 years of his life, living with his six brothers and sisters in a two-room apartment. He didn’t know much about the outside world. He didn’t have to; New York City the center of the universe. To Al, Coney Island was the tropics, Central & Prospect Parks were the country and riding the elevator trains was like taking a trip to a foreign land. At 12, he ran bookie receipts from store to store for a buck or two. At 13, during the summer, he worked at a Jewish Bodega for 75 cents a day, tips from deliveries and free lunches and sodas. Watching movies was a way to escape, while fending off perverts that frequented the theatres and other street gangs. He went on to have a very fruitful career in production design, has two beautiful daughters and three grandchildren. So when he talks about a movie and gives his wacky opinion about it, just read between the lines and l augh with him . Big Al won’t steer you wrong. | ||
