Bond stars to tour U.K. to mark 50th anniversary

Producers behind the popular 007 series have declared 5 October (12) Global James Bond Day to mark 50 years since the release of Sir Sean Connery’s first turn as the superspy in 1962’s Dr. No.

A number of events have been planned to mark the occasion, including exhibitions across the world and a live concert in Los Angeles, and now it has emerged some of the franchise’s stars will embark on a tour across the U.K.

Moore will join Bond girls including Britt Ekland, Eunice Gayson and Shirley Eaton, as well as Richard Kiel, who played infamous metal-mouthed character Jaws, for the 007 Days of Bond tour, which will stop at various locations across the U.K. including Penbryn Beach in Wales and Stoke Park in England.

On Monday, (17Sep12), Moore will travel to Scotland in an Aston Martin DBS car from 2008’s Quantum of Solace to launch the tour at Eilean Donan Castle, where Pierce Brosnan filmed scenes for 1999’s The World Is Not Enough.

A helicopter will also recreate a chase scene from 1963’s From Russia With Love, which was filmed near Lochgilphead, in Argyll.

The tour will finish in London on 24 September (12).
