Brad Paisley’s tour openers struck down by flu

Country star Eric Paslay battled through a bad bout of influenza last week (ends26Feb16) to open for tour mate Brad Paisley onstage in Kansas.
Brad’s Crushin’ It World Tour made a stop in Wichita on Thursday (25Feb16), but both his opening acts, Cam and Eric, were struck down with illness.
Singer Cam was forced to bow out of the gig completely, while Eric cancelled a pre-performance party so he could save his energy and soldier on with the main show. Eric also made sure to have a trash can nearby, just in case, reports AllAccess.com.
“You could tell (Eric) was struggling, but (he) didn’t miss a note,” local radio host J.J. Hayes told the website. “It was the type of performance that earns respect. He did have a small plastic trash can on stage with him and joked, ‘Who knows, maybe we’ll have a great YouTube moment if I have to use it.’ At the end of his set, he walked off stage waving the trash can high in victory, because he didn’t have to use it.”
The concert was all the more tough for the performers and fans alike as it took place hours after a mass shooting erupted in the small town of Hesston, Kansas, where gunman Cedric Ford killed three people and left 14 others injured, before he was shot dead himself.
Headliner Brad Paisley touched on the tragic incident during his performance, which he extended to make up for Cam’s illness, while he also dropped their collaboration Whiskey Lullaby from his setlist due to her absence.
