Brantley Gilbert is a dad

Country star Brantley Gilbert has become a first-time father.
The Bottoms Up hitmaker’s wife Amber gave birth to a son named Barrett Hardy-Clay Gilbert on Saturday (11Nov17).
“Honestly, I’m just speechless,” the new dad tells People.com. “Watching the delivery, I don’t even know what to say. Amber and I are just so thankful and blessed to have this beautiful little boy.”
Brantley reveals their boy arrived almost a week early, and the labour and delivery process was over within minutes.
“It was really fast,” the star explains. “Amber woke up, had a little pain. And the nurse said, ‘You’re ready.’ It was 30 minutes, and we had Barrett. And I have no words, beyond it’s even more than I could’ve ever imagined.”
The child’s middle name is a nod to his heritage, as Hardy comes from Amber’s dad’s side of the family, while Clay was the middle name of Brantley’s grandfather.
Little Barrett’s arrival has been a long time coming for the couple, which had been trying to start a family since tying the knot in 2015.
The 32-year-old singer announced the pregnancy news in May (17), and admitted he and his wife had previously consulted medical experts about possibly trying in vitro fertilisation (IVF), before falling pregnant naturally.
“We’d been to see a fertility specialist, and two different folks that told me it would be close to a miracle if it happened without IVF,” he explained at the time. “I’m not much of a quitter, but I was really, really frustrated.”
The tough journey to parenthood prompted Brantley to break down in tears when Amber told him they had conceived.
“I’m not an emotional guy, but this has got me crying like a baby,” he told People.com. “I’m pretty good around other folks now, but when I’m by myself, if I look at one of the pictures (ultrasounds) from the doctor’s office, I lose a few tears.”
