Bridget Jones’s Baby tops U.K. box office for second week

Bridget Jones’s Baby is ageing well after topping the U.K. box office for a second consecutive weekend.
The romantic comedy, which follows Renee Zellweger as the hapless title character coping with pregnancy and her complicated love life, trounced the competition last weekend (23-25Sep16), just as it had on its opening weekend.
The third instalment in the Bridget Jones franchise, directed by Sharon Maguire, the filmmaker behind the original 2001 hit, topped the chart with takings of $8.3 million (£6.4 million).
Failing to take down Bridget and her baby were the cowboys of The Magnificent Seven. Despite boasting a cast including Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, it only made it into second place with $2.7 million (£2.1 million).
Acclaimed animation Kubo and the Two Strings reached third place with $649,000 (£500,00), while in fourth place was another popular animated adventure, Finding Dory, which re-entered the top five with $599,000 (£460,000).
Fifth was Colm McCarthy’s dystopian thriller The Girl with All the Gifts with $558,000 (£430,000).
