British actors sue ABC for “War & Remembrance” pay

Backed by the U.K. actors’ union Equity, 27 British actors are suing ABC Entertainment for fees they claim were due them when the 14-episode miniseries War and Remembrance aired on ITV in 1995 and 1996. (The series first aired in the U.S. in 1989.) The actors claim that their contracts called for them to receive 75 percent of their original fee for the first repeat and 50 percent for the next one.

Over the weekend, Kirstie Pooley, who played Hitler’s mistress Eva Braun in the TV production, told the London Sunday Telegraph: “Of course it’s disappointing. … I am an actress, I am employed to perform. That’s what I did. I did my job well and finished it. It’s extremely boring having to go through this process.
