Calvin Harris hasn’t spoken to singer Cheryl since they worked together in 2012.
Despite the pair producing a hit song titled Call My Name, neither of them has actually bothered to pick up the phone for a chat since then.
Harris gave the song, which was originally written for his ex-girlfriend Rita Ora who passed on the track, to Cheryl, and it went on to top the charts in the U.K., and become the bestselling single of 2012 for the former Girls Aloud star.
In an interview with BBC Radio One’s Nick Grimshaw, when asked about his collaboration with the 35-year-old, the One Kiss producer explained: “I didn’t stay in touch. We didn’t… you know what, I think we met once in our lives.
“I wasn’t there when she did the vocal… I don’t work like that any more as it’s miserable, man. But I mean… the song was good.”
When pressed further on whether he would reteam with the singer, who is currently working on a new album, Harris seemed reluctant.
“I don’t know. I would have to see if she likes me as I have honestly only met her for about a second,” he confided, before adding that they do follow each other on Twitter, but the Fight for This Love singer has never direct messaged him.
The 34-year-old superstar DJ’s comments come as Rita was spotted getting close to Cheryl’s ex Liam Payne, 24, backstage at the 2018 MTV VMAs on Monday (20Aug18), following their performance of Fifty Shades Freed duet For You at the event.
The pair brought back the raunchy onstage moves they ditched for their Brits 2018 performance, when Liam attended with then-girlfriend Cheryl, the mother of his son Bear.
