Carol Burnett to receive honorary doctorate degree

Veteran actress Carol Burnett will receive an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree from the American Film Institute next month (Jun17).
The beloved star will be feted alongside filmmakers Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick at a commencement ceremony on 5 June (17) at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Herskovitz and Zwick are alumni of the AFI’s Class of 1975.
The ceremony will coincide with the 50th anniversary of AFI, which was formed in 1967. It also marks the 50th anniversary of The Carol Burnett Show.
Past honourees include Kathryn Bigelow, Clint Eastwood, James Earl Jones, Spike Lee, and Helen Mirren.
