Cattrall’s tears over soccer team

The Sex and the City star was born in Liverpool, England, but moved to Canada when she was less than a year old before returning at the age of 11 for several years of school.

Cattrall, who became a U.S. citizen in 2008, admits she is an avid follower of her hometown’s soccer club but is often reduced to tears because the team’s anthem, You’ll Never Walk Alone, reminds her of her ailing dad.

She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “I’m a proud supporter of Liverpool FC. Whenever I hear You’ll Never Walk Alone I get highly emotional. But I don’t follow the game as closely as my dad does. Sadly he’s in a home now, suffering from dementia. When Liverpool are on the telly he’ll sit there with his scarf and mug, on his Steven Gerrard pillow.”
