Christian Bale approves of Robert Pattinson casting as Batman

Former Batman Christian Bale has voiced his approval for Robert Pattinson being cast as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ new movie.

The 45-year-old actor played the superhero in Batman Begins in 2005, before later reprising his role in the sequels The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

He left the part after that, with Ben Affleck taking over the role, before quitting ahead of The Batman – leaving Reeves the unenviable job of choosing the next person to play the DC Comics superhero on screen.

It was recently announced that ex Twilight star Robert will take on the role, and as Christian attended the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his latest film, the majority of reporters wanted to know what he thought of the casting.

“Good choice!” he told Variety, before adding of Robert: “He’s interesting.”

During a chat with Entertainment Tonight, he added: “All the best to him! You know, I think he’s an absolutely fantastic actor. Wonderful choice for Batman!”
