The King’s Speech star’s environmental activist partner is a longtime supporter of the global poverty charity and is using her knowledge of sustainable fashion in a bid to help the organisation get better rights for workers in the international garment industry.
She says, “An on the ground visit with Oxfam’s partners really helped to open my eyes to the truth of the global supply chain for fashion. Meeting the women who produce our fashion brought me face to face with the realities of life in a garment factory and the urgent need for reform and equality in our supply chains.”
Firth is an advocate for reusable clothing and created the Green Carpet Challenge in 2009 in an effort to make the world’s biggest fashion houses less wasteful.
