Comcast President Brian Roberts and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates met secretly last week to discuss forming an alliance to compete against AOL Time Warner to acquire AT&T’s cable business, the New York Post reported Monday. The newspaper observed that Microsoft could enter the fray in order to prevent rival AOL Time Warner from merging with AT&T Broadband, as the cable business is called. Last month, AT&T rejected an unsolicited bid for the business from Comcast alone.
