San Diego: At least once a year, it’s the place where it’s chic to be a geek.
This July, the sun-soaked Southern California city became the central gathering place for all walks of exotic lifeforms, including superheroes, Stormtroopers, Klingons, Hobbits, wizards, Anime girls, pirates, writers, artists, gamers, toy enthusiasts, memorabilia collectors and even Playboy pin-ups, all of whom assemble to celebrate their various obsessions in the world of comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, cartoons, movies, TV, video games and just plain dressing up like their favorite fantastic characters.
And with such an enthusiastic audience on hand it’s no surprise that for four days San Diego also turns into Hollywood South, as major filmmakers and stars from genre projects—popular, forthcoming and nostalgic—join the fans to whip them into a far-out frenzy. Oh yeah, and sometimes to find that missing issue of X-Men that’s marred the completeness of their own collection!
Get ready to rocket into the future with Hollywood.com as we sought out all of the biggest names hitting Comic-Con to get the scoop on their latest adventures.

But the guys dud the best they could during a visit to the mainland to mingle with the obsessive minds of Comic-Con. Read more!
PLUS: It’s all about the Others…and maybe a little making out. Or at least that’s what Lost producers Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse and Bryan Burk would have Hollywood.com believe when we cornered them at Comic-Con and asked for any scoop they could spare on Season Three.

Ghost RiderNot all superheroes are nice, good-looking people in spandex: take Marvel Comics’ Ghost Rider, for example: Not only is the source of his power from the darkest corner of Hell, but when he’s out fighting for what’s right, he takes the form of a badass biker in a chains and a spiked leather jacket, and his head erupts into a flaming skull. As Ghost Rider prepares to steer his Hellcycle into theaters next year, Hollywood.com took a spectral tour of the minds of stars Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes, along with director Mark Steven Johnson.
