CBS may reenter the game show fray with Shafted, which forces its two finalists to decide between sharing a cash prize or slugging it out for the right to take it all home. According to Variety, the finalists are whittled down from a group of contestants who must wager on a series of “half questions.” The remainder of the question–which could pertain to a completely different subject than expected–is revealed after a contestant places the wager. Contestants also can “shaft” their rivals by throwing questions their way. The game ends with the two finalists asked separately about what they want to do with the prize. If both agree to “share,” they split the booty. If they both try to “shaft” the other, they each go home with nothing. If one says “shaft,” but the other wants to “share,” the former goes home with all the money. The Dutch TV-hatched Shafted would be CBS’ first quiz show since its Winning Lines flopped in February 2000.
